Privacy policy
Cobalt Prosper has no accounts and no email capture for marketing. Our calculators run entirely in your browser: the figures you type are never sent to us or stored anywhere. The one form on the site is the contact form, which sends us only what you type into it. The site uses two analytics tools, one cookieless and one (Google Analytics) that does set cookies, and once advertising is enabled it will show ads served by Google AdSense, which also uses cookies. Both are described below.
What we collect
Nothing you type. Calculator inputs are processed in your browser by JavaScript and are not transmitted to our servers.
Standard server logs. Our hosting providers (Railway) and content delivery network (Cloudflare) record standard technical logs such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, used for security and operations and retained per those providers' policies.
Aggregate analytics. We use two tools, and they differ in an important way. Ahrefs Web Analytics is cookieless: it reports aggregate page views and referrers, sets no cookies, and builds no profile of individual visitors. Google Analytics 4 does set cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier) so that it can tell a returning visitor from a new one and group page views into sessions. We added it because advertising partners verify a site's traffic by reading a Google Analytics property directly and will not accept another platform. We use it for aggregate reporting only. Google Analytics 4 anonymises IP addresses by default, we do not upload or join any personal data to the property, and we keep the advertising personalisation and cross-device features (Google Signals) switched off.
The contact form. When you send a message through the contact page, we receive the name, email address, and message you typed, along with basic technical context (browser, language, timezone, and the page you wrote from, with any query strings removed). It goes to our support system (AcornReply) so we can reply, is used only for handling your message, and is never used for marketing.
Advertising
The site is supported by display advertising. We use, or will use, Google AdSense. Google and its partners are third-party vendors that use cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings, and opt out of many third-party advertising cookies at aboutads.info. Where required by law, a consent banner lets you choose whether advertising cookies are used at all; declining still gives you the full site.
Cookies
The site sets analytics cookies through Google Analytics 4, described above, which distinguish returning visitors and group page views into sessions. Nothing else we run sets a cookie: the calculators, the contact form and the Ahrefs analytics are all cookieless. Advertising, when enabled, may set its own cookies as described above. All of it is governed by the consent choices offered in your region, and declining still gives you the full site.
If you would rather not be counted at all, Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics on every site, and ordinary browser settings or tracking protection will block these cookies too. Nothing on this site is gated behind them.
Third-party links
Pages link to primary sources (such as irs.gov, ssa.gov, studentaid.gov, and state agency sites) and occasionally to other publishers. Their privacy practices are their own.
Children
The site is a personal-finance reference intended for adults and does not knowingly collect information from children.
