Sales tax in Sevier County, Arkansas
There is no single sales tax rate in Sevier County. It runs from 9.625% to 12.625% depending on the exact address, because cities and special districts inside the county levy their own on top of the 6.5% state rate. The 6.5% state rate applies everywhere in the county; everything above that depends on where you are standing.
What is the sales tax rate in Sevier County?
| Arkansas state rate | 6.5% |
|---|---|
| Sevier County rate | 3.125% |
| Lowest combined rate in the county | 9.625% |
| Highest combined rate in the county | 12.625% |
The two combined figures are the lowest and highest totals found anywhere inside the county. They are not a state rate plus a county rate added together, and adding the rows above will not reproduce them, because cities and special districts levy in between.
Why the rate here is not the whole story
Arkansas charges 6.5 percent statewide and counties and cities each levy on top of it, and city limits do not follow county lines, so no single rate covers the whole county. The county itself levies 3.125 percent countywide, and that county rate applies inside its cities as well as outside them. The floor of 9.625 percent is the state rate plus the county rate in the unincorporated part of the county, and the ceiling of 12.625 percent is at Gillham. Arkansas cut the state rate on food and food ingredients to 0 percent on January 1 2026 while every city and county tax still applies to groceries, so the figures here are the general merchandise rates and not the grocery rate. The city and county part of a single transaction is capped at the first 2,500 dollars only for motor vehicles, aircraft, watercraft and manufactured housing, and on any other business invoice above 2,500 dollars the buyer may claim a rebate of the local tax paid above that amount.
How do I find the exact rate for an address in Sevier County?
Because the rate changes within the county, an address is the only way to get it right. Use Arkansas's own lookup. A vendor's calculator is not the state speaking.
Who has to collect sales tax in Sevier County?
